Tool for Managing Behavioral Symptoms of Dementia Patients

Principal Investigator: Laura N. Gitlin, Ph.D.

The primary outcome of this study, known as the WeCare study, is to develop an innovative assessment, management, and monitoring support tool for use by informal caregivers of persons with dementia who are trying to manage difficult behaviors. The aim of the study is to determine if the WeCare Advisor tool systematically guides the caregiver through a decision process helping the caregiver better understand and manage behavioral symptoms.

Approximately 30 caregivers of dementia patients will be enrolled in the study in the Baltimore area, an additional 30 will be enrolled in the Ann Arbor, MI area.
