Mechanisms of Synaptic Aging

Principal Investigator: Alena Savonenko, Ph.D.

This study is using an inducible transgenic mouse model that has different ages of onset of the deposition of amyloid beta and tau (young adulthood, middle age, and old age). The primary goal of this study is to determine the impact of abeta or tau alone, or in combination, on the regulation of the synaptic protein, neuronal pentraxin 2 (NPTX2). Sex-related differences will also be examined.
